Gilbarco Veeder-Root Receives ISO Upgrade

Company granted ISO 9001:2000 registration.

Greensboro, NC USA - July 17, 2003 - Gilbarco Veeder-Root announces the upgrade of it's ISO Registration from ISO 9001:1994 to ISO 9001:2000. This upgrade was granted following a thorough review of the results from a weeklong audit that occurred in April. The company's registrar, Underwriters Laboratories Inc., conducted the assessment that covered both the Greensboro and Kinston, North Carolina operations.

ISO 9001:2000 expects the responsibility for a company's Quality Management System (QMS) to be placed with the top management. Principles include leadership, customer focus, involvement of people, process approach, continual improvement, and supplier relationships.

"The management team is actively involved in our quality program and we are committed to ensuring that the effectiveness of the systems put in place continually improve." said Gary Masse, president and group executive for Gilbarco Veeder-Root. "We are pleased with the support we have received from our customers and our associates in this initiative."

Gilbarco Veeder-Root's use of strong business tools such as Policy Deployment with Targets To Improve and Key Performance Indicators, a Tollgate Process for product development, and the focus on continuous improvement through numerous Kaizen events were highlighted in the registrar's review.
