Wawa Announces Rollout of Gilbarco's Contactless Card Readers
New technology delivers increased convenience and security for Wawa customers.
Greensboro, NC USA - November 07, 2005 - Wawa, one of the leading
retail petroleum marketers in the United States, is adding Gilbarco's
contactless card payment option to more than 1,900 fueling positions in
the company's Gilbarco branded dispensers in Pennsylvania, Delaware,
Maryland, and Virginia.
Because Gilbarco's contactless card payment system is compliant with
global standard ISO 14443, and is approved by all three major credit
card companies, transactions qualify as a card swipe and therefore get
the best transaction rate.
Wawa Fueling Equipment Manager Scott Boorse says the benefits of
Gilbarco's contactless system provide enhanced consumer experience and
security."Gilbarco's contactless payment system at the pump enables
Wawa to offer its customers more payment options, faster transaction
time, and more security than traditional payment methods. Offering
contactless at the pump is consistent with our commitment to providing
convenience to our customers." Gilbarco's contactless system provides
Wawa with the most cost effective, safe, and integrated point of sale
solution in the marketplace, Boorse says.
The program will be completed by early 2006.
Gilbarco Veeder-Root's Contactless Card Readers will be exhibited at
the National Association of Convenience Stores (NACS) show booth #
1933, November 16-18, 2005 at the Las Vegas Convention Center
