Gilbarco Veeder-Root Announces Plans to Release Direct Interface to PDI Software
New interface means more data - faster and cheaper.
Orlando, FL - October 7, 2002 - Gilbarco Veeder-Root, the leader in
fuel dispensing and control, retail and site management, and global
service, announced today plans to release a direct interface from its
G-SITEĀ® POS system to Professional Datasolutions Resource Management
Series (PDI/RMS) back office and accounting software. This new
interface provides data in the native PDI/RMS format via FTP protocol,
eliminating the need for middleware.
"This direct interface offers our G-SITE customers a faster, more
efficient and reliable interface to PDI," says Chris Whitley, director
of POS marketing for Gilbarco Veeder-Root. "Customers will have access
to three times the G-SITE data they had using our G-SITE Link
middleware. And, by using FTP, pricebook data can download up to five
times faster."
"Gilbarco Veeder-Root is taking a leadership role with this new
interface. Using industry standard protocols such as FTP to communicate
will provide our shared customers with a much more user-friendly
end-to-end solution," says Becky Barnett, PDI's vice president of
customer services.
FTP is available in all of Gilbarco's G-SITE applications released over
the last year and the native PDI/RMS format is being introduced across
all versions in the coming months with most being available this fall.
