Gilbarco Veeder-Root Acquires Alki Networks Assets and Software License Distribution
Interactive merchandising for gasoline dispensers helps retailers increase store traffic and build customer loyalty.
Greensboro, NC - USA - October 9, 2003 - Gilbarco Veeder-Root announced
today plans to acquire the assets of Alki Networks, a Seattle-based
technology developer and software licensing company. Under the
agreement, key Alki associates will become part of the Gilbarco
Veeder-Root organization. With this transaction, Gilbarco Veeder-Root
gains exclusive distribution of the Alki Intelligent Merchandising
(AIM) system, a web-based application that delivers interactive
marketing and merchandising programs on fuel dispensers and alternative
display devices at the forecourt. The deal is scheduled to be completed
in three to four weeks.
The AIM system provides a suite of tools that gas station operators can
use to quickly create digital promotions, schedule and deploy them
across a single location or an entire network of gas stations, and
capture and report critical customer response data in real-time. All
system management is conducted through a standard browser, and the
intuitive interface means any non-technical marketer can manage and
track the effectiveness of these digital promotions throughout the
system. Promoting in-store specials and specialized goods and services
at the gas pump island builds store traffic leading to increased sales
and more satisfied, loyal customers.
"We are excited about adding the Alki system to our integrated suite of
merchandising solutions," said Martin Gafinowitz, president for North
America. "This is another example of Gilbarco Veeder-Root using smart
integration to help retailers leverage their investment in forecourt
devices and point of sale systems, and at the same time, increase
traffic, grow profits and build customer loyalty." Today, Gilbarco
Veeder-Root has over 150,000 color and monochrome screens installed in
the field capable of displaying AIM marketing and merchandising.
"Joining Gilbarco Veeder-Root means great things for Alki Networks and
our customers," said David Senan, president and general manager of Alki
Networks. "Alki Networks gains unmatched market access, and our
customers gain superior customer support and access to innovative
technology solutions from the clear industry leader."
The AIM system was designed and built in an open source environment
allowing for affordable feature and functionality extensions and
integration into customers? current enterprise systems. The AIM system
is a complete product that has been fully tested, documented, and is
functioning in the field today with Gilbarco® dispensers and POS
systems. It will be displayed on dispensers at the upcoming NACS
(National Association of Convenience Stores) Trade Show in the Gilbarco
Veeder-Root booth #4031.
