Gilbarco Veeder-Root's Car Wash Kiosk Provides "Pay at the Wash"
Integration with POS systems also allows for loyalty programs and consolidated sales reports.
Chicago, IL - USA - October 12, 2003 - Retailers will now be able to
offer merchandising programs at the car wash and increase customer
convenience using Gilbarco Veeder-Root's automated car wash kiosks, on
display in booth #4031 at this week's NACS (National Association of
Convenience Stores) Trade Show.
The kiosk, which works with Gilbarco point-of-sale systems, makes
payment fast and easy. The kiosk can accept credit / debit cards (major
oil networks), cash (bills and quarters) with change, and RFID devices
(if supported by the POS application). A built-in proximity sensor
recognizes customers when they approach, and provides voice greeting
and simple instruction prompts.
"Finding more revenue opportunities has always been a key to retailers'
success," said Chris Whitley, director of POS marketing. "Car washes
have become an increasingly profitable trend for retailers, so we have
found ways to make them more convenient for the consumer to pay and
more profitable for the retailer to operate."
Because the kiosk is now connected to the POS system, retailers don't
need additional credit networks or phone lines. In addition, the
connectivity allows for consolidated car wash reports at the POS so
retailers can keep track of all their car wash sales in one place.
The kiosk uses multi-level security to prevent break-ins. Visual and
audible alarms on the kiosk and at the POS alert operators if anyone
attempts to gain entry into the kiosk.
