Gilbarco Veeder-Root Introduces Connectivity to Put Retailers in Control
SMART Connect gives retailers greater throughput, more uptime and lower cost of ownership.
Chicago, IL - USA - October 12, 2003 - Now dispensers, automatic tank
gauges and point-of-sale systems are connected to each other and the
home office through a single point, giving retailers important
information and more control over their sites. This connectivity is
possible with SMART Connect by Gilbarco Veeder-Root, which is being
introduced at this week's NACS (National Association of Convenience
Stores) Trade Show in booth #4031.
SMART Connect lets retailers link components, applications and systems
at a site or a network of sites to better manage operations, and
increase uptime and throughput. It allows dispensers, point of sale
systems and automatic tank gauges to integrate with each other so that
retailers can access, analyze and act on data collected across the
forecourt. With SMART Connect, site data can get to the right people at
the right time using the Internet, e-mail or text message notification.
"In today's competitive world, petroleum retailers are constantly
fighting the battle of reducing costs and increasing profits," said
Martin Gafinowitz, president for North America. "The way to achieve
that kind of efficiency is for retailers to have detailed information
about the components at their site so they can make adjustments and
decisions quickly. SMART Connect enables those components to talk with
each other so retailers will have that control."
With over 35,000 sites connected in North America, Gilbarco
Veeder-Root's Fuel Management Services (FMS) provide the infrastructure
for retailers to make the most of SMART Connect.
When used with FMS, retailers can access site data whenever they want
it with an easy-to-use Internet interface, instant polling features,
and actionable, exception-based reporting. SMART Connect can help
ensure consistent, acceptable flow rates and eliminate unnecessary
filter changes by using real-time flow rate data to respond to low flow
conditions. With alarm reporting and error code analysis, trained FMS
technicians can remotely diagnose and resolve alarm conditions and
intelligently dispatch authorized service contractors when needed,
reducing the number of calls to the site. FMS also makes it easier to
meet state compliance regulations by monitoring and reporting dispenser
data.
The new Inform for SMART Connect, an enhanced version of Inform from
Veeder-Root, provides the same capabilities as Version 3.0 plus it lets
you connect to a site to monitor and retrieve basic data from
dispensers and CRIND as well as automatic tank gauges. Retailers can
use Inform together with FMS to access some data on their own while
subscribing to other services for more in-depth analysis and action.
SMART Connect can be configured to a retailer's site communications, and can be added to enhance existing site operations.
