Kaehler Announces Early Retirement from Gilbarco Veeder-Root
Gafinowitz is named President for Gilbarco North America
Greensboro, NC - USA - September 12, 2003 - David Kaehler,
president of Gilbarco Americas announced today that he plans to take an
early retirement. Kaehler will continue to support Gilbarco Veeder-Root
in a consulting capacity. Martin Gafinowitz has been named as president
of Gilbarco North America. In this role, Gafinowitz will continue to
have responsibility for global product strategy.
"David Kaehler has seen the company through a remarkable era of

Veeder-Root worldwide. "He has been instrumental in the deployment of
innovative technologies that have helped diversify the company. But his
contributions cannot be measured in project achievements alone. His
spirit of creativity and cooperation has been a driving cultural force

support."

Kaehler joined Gilbarco Inc. in 1985 as fueling systems engineering
manager and was later named vice president of engineering. In October
1997, he was named president of Gilbarco Inc. - Americas. Kaehler was a
key member of the management team that took the company to a leadership
position in retail automation. Today, over 70% of Gilbarco fuel
dispensers have automated payment systems for credit and debit, a
technology introduced by the company in 1988. In addition, Gilbarco has
over 30,000 point of sale systems installed worldwide. Kaehler was a
guiding force in the company's focus on customers and technological
innovation. Throughout the various transitions, his unwavering support
of Gilbarco's strong distributor network and customer service is his
legacy.
