Retailers Seek a Competitive Edge at Gilbarco's Retail Systems User Conference
GREENSBORO, N.C. – Over 150 retailers, distributors and technology providers, representing more than 50 leading convenience store operators assembled in Greensboro, N.C. to learn about the latest technology and trends during the Gilbarco Veeder-Root Retail Systems User Conference March 30 – April 2. The event featured general sessions about technology trends and business leadership strategies, in-depth training sessions designed to increase profitability, trade show exhibits for Gilbarco certified technology partners, and networking opportunities for retailers.
Keynote speaker Ira Blumenthal opened the conference. Blumenthal has counseled many of the world’s largest corporations, hosted the popular radio talk show “SuccessTalk,” and is author of the book “Ready, Blame, Fire!” Blumenthal highlighted the need for retailers to embrace change and deliver value to their customers, letting technology investment follow their strategic objectives.
Gilbarco subject matter experts led 26 training sessions, grouped in four tracks, providing detailed information about PCI compliance, security, digital marketing, point of sale and back office system growth tools, and other subjects.
"This conference provides a great opportunity for our partners to meet and exchange ideas in a highly interactive forum,” said Richard Browne, Gilbarco Veeder-Root’s vice president of marketing North America. “Many of our new products and services and their enhancements are a direct result of input received at our user conferences."
Other guest speakers included Scott Wood, director of standards development and maintenance for the Petroleum Convenience Alliance for Technology Standards (PCATS); Pat Lewis, CEO of KickBack Points; Stephen Alexander, president of Fueland; Dan Glennon, SVP of marketing and strategy at Cybera; Shawn Herrick from SSCS; and Will Englefield from RedPrairie.
Trade show exhibits from conference sponsors and certified Gilbarco partners showcased technology solutions for retailers.
