Gilbarco, AJB Demonstrate Canada’s First EMV Transactions at the Pump
GREENSBORO, N.C. – March 4, 2009 – Gilbarco Veeder-Root and AJB Software Design Inc. of Toronto will demonstrate Canada’s first EuroPay MasterCard Visa (EMV) transactions at the pump. The demonstration will take place March 10 – 11 at the National Energy Equipment (NEE) booth 309, Convenience U CARWACS Show at the Toronto Congress Centre.
Gilbarco FlexPay EMV CRIND hardware and software from AJB enable the EMV compliant transactions. EMV compliant transactions reduce the opportunity for fraud, reduce charge-backs to retailers, and provide finer control of “offline” credit card transaction approvals. EMV CRINDs are required at new or rebuild sites by January of 2011 and all Canadian fuel dispensers must be compliant by 2015.
“AJB Software Design and Gilbarco have worked in partnership to launch an EMV approved hardware and software solution for Canadian petroleum retailers,” said Naresh Bangia, president of AJB. “This partnership has resulted in the first EMV transaction demonstration at a fuel dispenser.”
“Gilbarco’s leadership in payment security allows Canadian retailers to retrofit existing dispensers now with backward-compatible FlexPay CRIND®,” said Scott McDowell, director of marketing, dispenser applications, at Gilbarco Veeder-Root. “Retailers can upgrade to EMV transactions when their POS and networks are ready to accept and process these transactions.”
