100,000th Gilbarco® Ecometer™ installed

GREENSBORO, N.C. – January 19, 2009 – Gilbarco recently achieved a milestone in advanced meter technology.  The shipment of the 100,000th Ecometer was celebrated at Gilbarco’s Greensboro N.C. manufacturing facility. Gilbarco’s Ecometer addresses the annual fuel loss due to meter drift which exceeds $200 million.  With 75% fewer moving parts than a traditional piston meter, the Ecometer remains more accurate over time, protecting fuel inventory from losses associated with inaccurate measurement and retailers from the cost of frequent meter calibrations. 

Nick Desai, owner of Mr. Speedyz in East Ridge, Tennessee, has had Encore® S dispensers with Ecometers installed since March 2008.  “We have been happy with the performance of the dispensers and the dispensers have done exactly what we expected them to do,” he said.  “Our local support at the station has been very good as well.”
