A Smarter Forecourt

Smart devices (sometimes referred to as connected devices) are ones that can connect to the internet or other networks and can perform a wider range of tasks than their predecessors.

They can be monitored – or even managed – remotely, and they help address common c-store challenges like:

  • Site complexity
  • Theft/fraud concerns
  • Customer experience
  • Labor shortages

Put simply, smart devices can streamline your operations and make things simpler.

The Latest in Smart Devices

One such smart device is PCN5 (Pump Control Node 5). PCN5 transforms the management and monitoring of Encore dispensers, offering substantial benefits that enhance uptime and streamline service costs.

PCN5 provides you with extended input/output capabilities, providing future expandability via industry standard surfaces like USB and ethernet. It also offers a significant improvement to processing power compared to prior generations.

Enhancing Dispenser Management

Invenco by GVR's Forecourt simplifies site management by providing remote access, control and configuration of forecourt equipment via a cloud-based platform.

With a Forecourt subscription, you'll gain access to the advanced capabilities of PCN5. The remote functionality of PCN5 empowers Encore dispensers to adapt seamlessly to the evolving fueling landscape.

For starters, you're now able to schedule and conduct updates on your dispenser(s) remotely, meaning no need to send a technician to your site to update software on the pump itself.

You're also able to remotely configure PCN settings. Instead of needing to manually click through 100s of settings on the dispenser, you now have them at the tip of your finger and can access them in seconds.

  • This can help boost security at your site as you can configure settings like max dispenser timeout to automatically shut down your dispenser if no flow is occurring - a common sign of valve theft.
  • You're also able to do things like set volume or transaction limits, and configure blend ratio, just to name a couple more.

Forecourt lets you monitor, analyze and solve problems – no truck rolls needed.

The Bottom Line

Smart devices increase uptime as well as customer satisfaction since things can be resolved the same day they occur. In the future our goal is to take that resolution time down even further, with no human interaction needed at all.

“We know this solution is game-changing for retailers, so we are actively working to add more functionality to it.”

Jonathan Fashandi (Global Product Manager, Connectivity, Electronics, Gilbarco Veeder-Root)

As new features are added to further enhance operational efficiency and security, PCN5’s remote software updates make it easy for retailers to roll them out.
