In the wake of the coronavirus outbreak, we asked our product experts to come up with ways use Passport POS to make stores safer for employees and customers.
The team ended up with a series of tips that repurpose features and functions of Passport with the goal of flattening the curve.
Here are the tips in one complete blog:
Using the Clean Screen Feature
Keeping the cashier workstation clean is one of the best ways to keep your teammates and customers safe and healthy.
Use the Clean Screen feature to safely wipe down the screen without accidentally triggering the system.
Instructions:
MORE > CLEAN > YES > WIPE DOWN SCREEN
Turn Off Customer Signature Capture
Some stores are limiting public contact with PIN pads by turning off the Signature Capture feature.
Here’s how to do that with Passport.
Instructions:
MANAGER WORKSTATION > SET UP > REGISTER > REGISTER SET UP > UNCHECK ELECTRONIC SIGNATURE OPTION > SAVE > RETURN TO POS
Set Cleaning Reminders
There are a lot of surfaces to clean and reminders can help your team keep up with everything.
Instructions:
MANAGER WORKSTATION > SET UP > STORE > REMINDER MAINTENANCE > ADD > FILL OUT FIELDS > ENABLE REMINDER > CHOOSE SCHEDULE > SAVE
Turn off POS Receipt Printing
Stores are now opting to print receipts upon request only to limit person-to-person contact during the coronavirus outbreak.
Instructions:
MANAGER WORKSTATION > MORE > SET UP > REGISTER > REGISTER GROUP MAINTANENCE > Choose Register Group > CHANGE > UNCHECK ‘A receipt is printed for each transaction’ > SAVE > EXIT
Offer Full Service with Attendant Fueling Mode
During the coronavirus outbreak, gas stations and convenience stores are offering full service to better protect the health and safety of customers. Businesses are assigning an employee to a certain set of pumps to help customers through the fueling process while practicing social distancing.
Here’s how to switch your Passport POS into Attendant Mode:
Instructions:
CASHIER WORKSTATION > MORE > MORE > DISPENSER > ATTENDED OPTIONS > Sign in > ASSIGN DISPENSER > Choose pumps > GO BACK > CANCEL > GO BACK
Keep Forecourts Open 24 Hours for Emergency Workers
Health care workers, commercial drivers, and other essential workers often need access to fuel during off-hours.
Stores use Unattended Mode to keep the forecourt operating and clear card reader errors when no cashier is on duty.
Instructions:
Manager workstation > FORECOURT > DISPENSER OPTIONS > Select pump > ENABLE UNATTENDED OPERATION > UPDATE LIST > SAVE
