Business Plans and Future Outlook

Q: What is your vision for the operations department over the next five years?
Delia: Over the next five years, my vision for the Salzkotten site is to achieve operational excellence through continuous improvement and innovation. We will streamline processes, embrace advanced technologies, and consistently deliver high-quality products that exceed customer expectations. Strengthening customer relationships by actively seeking feedback and aligning our operations with their needs is a key focus. Additionally, reducing lead times by optimizing the supply chain and enhancing team communication will help us improve efficiency and responsiveness. Ultimately, I want Salzkotten to be a model of excellence, quality, and sustainability that drives long-term growth. Kicking off the spring exhibition season, GVR took centre stage at Motortec Madrid from April 23rd to 26th. This premier automotive trade fair is a key event for the automotive service and aftermarket industry in Spain, making it the perfect platform to reinforce our commitment to the Iberian market.

Q: What key operational efficiency goals are you currently focusing on?
Delia: Our focus is on delivering superior product quality supported by robust quality management and rigorous testing. Enhancing customer experience through streamlined communication and responsiveness remains a priority. We are also working to reduce lead times by optimizing inventory management and automating processes where possible. These efforts will create a seamless flow, enabling faster market response and a competitive edge.

Q: How do you plan to drive process improvements and optimize workflows?
Delia: We have a strong culture of continuous improvement that we are building upon by promoting innovation and engagement at all levels. A major initiative is implementing Microsoft Dynamics 365 to unify operations and provide real-time data for informed decision-making. This ERP system will streamline inventory, finance, and customer relationship management functions. Comprehensive training and expanded KPIs will ensure we track progress and adjust strategies effectively.

Technology and Challenge

Q: What technological advancements do you foresee impacting operations, and how is the company preparing?
Delia: The rollout of Microsoft Dynamics 365 ERP will be transformative, enhancing visibility and decision-making by unifying operations. Additionally, AI-driven work instructions on the shop floor, delivered through Windchill PLM, will boost efficiency and reduce errors by providing task-specific guidance in real time. To support these changes, we are investing in employee training and have formed a dedicated implementation team to ensure a smooth transition.

Q: What are the biggest operational challenges you anticipate?
Delia: Integrating new technologies into existing workflows is a complex challenge, involving data migration, user training, and aligning systems with business needs. Cultural resistance to change can also slow adoption, making leadership support essential. Cybersecurity and data privacy are critical as we rely more on digital tools. Additionally, ongoing supply chain disruptions require agile, tech-enabled strategies to maintain efficiency and responsiveness.

Sustainability and Collaboration

Q: Are there any sustainable practices you plan to implement within operations?
Delia: We are committed to sustainability, aiming to move toward a paperless environment supported by Microsoft Dynamics 365. We’re enhancing our recycling programs by increasing awareness and accessibility and working with suppliers on reusable packaging solutions to reduce waste. These initiatives support our environmental goals and responsible operations.

Q: How do you plan to enhance collaboration between operations and other departments?
Delia: We will implement regular cross-departmental meetings to align goals and encourage open communication. Joint projects will foster teamwork, and recognizing collaboration will reinforce a culture of shared success. This approach aims to create seamless workflows and boost productivity company wide.

Measuring Success

Q: What key performance indicators (KPIs) do you focus on to measure operational success?
Delia: We focus on several KPIs including External Parts Per Million (PPM) to monitor product quality, On-Time Delivery to ensure reliability, and Productivity metrics such as output per labour hour. Together, these indicators provide a comprehensive view of our performance in quality, timeliness, and efficiency.
